Does Your Business Have More Than One Location? 2 Tips To Manage The Data Centers

If you own a business and have more than one location, you likely have a data center at each location. If this is the case, then you need to know how to have great management between the two centers. Below is in formation about this so you can ensure everything runs smoothly for your business.

Use SD-WAN Solutions

SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) is a great way to get started keeping everything managed well. SD-WAN can be very confusing for someone who has no experience, so you should consider hiring a service that can provide these solutions for your company.

This service will need to install routers in your data center. These routers are used to communicate between your two locations. Even if you currently have routers installed, the SD-WAN solutions company may still suggest that you replace the routers with new ones. This is especially true if your current routers are old.

SD-WAN solutions will usually provide virtual security for both of your locations. For example, if you send data from one location to the other through your network, you do not want someone to be able to intrude and gain access to this information.

Use Virtual Servers

Another way to keep your two data centers properly managed is to use virtual servers. This means the servers in your data center will be installed on another location outside of your data center. All resources that come from your data center can then be shared between each data center. Each server has its own operating system, which means it will be like you have two separate servers. You will need to set up email addresses, file directories, software, and more that you need for your company on the server. Once the virtual servers are set up, you can set up the employees that you want to have access to the servers.

Each server should also have security software installed, such as antivirus software, spyware software, firewalls, and much more. You will also have to have a sperate web hosting on each server.

Virtual servers are very difficult to set up, so you should consider hiring a company to set up the servers for you and to maintain them for you once they are installed.
